:iconjanaschi: painted my portrait from life in 3 hours yesterday, www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi…

Pretty freaking incredible. Also incredible is I've been a fan of hers for like 8 years and she lives in Berlin. What are the odds we'd become friends? lol

And my boyfriend :iconrodluff: did a painting of me for Christmas! :D

www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi…

It's his first oil painting he's done of me and I can't get over how amazing it is. Unfortunately I couldn't capture how great it looks with the photo of it but his drawing and painting skills are mind blowing.

Rod also has hand embellished prints of his piece "Owl Song" on sale right now at the Phone Booth Gallery, they are almost sold out, so if you see this in time you may be lucky enough to snag one: phoneboothgallery.com/pbg/deta…

I was there when they were getting printed and the prints were done by the best printers out there who do prints for artists like Audrey Kawasaki and Drew Struzan. Having seen the original I am super impressed.

That's all for now! :D

Hey thrrrr…!

Next week Thurs December 6th is :iconrodluff:'s curatorial debut with the Moleskine Project 2. Here's the list of artists: rodluff.tumblr.com/post/333972…  (If you go through the rest of his blog he's posted some of the work that will be in the show. You should also follow him on tumblr because it's a really inspiring blog)

The show is at Spoke Art in San Fran so it you're in the area you should come and RSVP here: www.facebook.com/events/433387…

I've been lucky enough to see a preview of almost all the work and it is jaw dropping. :O Many of the artists will be in attendance. I'm so friggin stoked, so many of these artists are my idols! XD

In other news, in a few weeks I will have finished my bachelors degree… :O Well, that means nothing. XD I still have so much work to do! Going to take a year to hone my drawing and painting skills as well as do quite a bit of traveling before I apply to studios. So I'm srsly going to Iran this year for the first time! :O And will probably visit Australia again possibly more than once. :D yay!

Australia!

3 min read

Hey yall,

Got back from my trip visiting :iconrodluff: in Australia a few weeks ago. It was INCREDIBLE. :D

Here's a just a small portion of the highlights of the trip: (if you have fb, you can see our pics here: www.facebook.com/media/set/?se…)

-Saw a couple wild kangaroos, (saw many roadkill ones…)
-Ate kangaroo that Rod cooked for me. :D (and it was good!) also ate vegemite and I didn't hate it. (Though Rod hates it.)
-Saw a super rare platypus in a river outside of these enormous caves
-Rod and I stayed a night at this master landscape painter's house in this gorgeous area : rockleystudio.com.au/
That guy is a genius… knows all the scientific side about art (like another Gurney. :O) Unfortunately the pics on his site doesn't give any justice to his art.
-Went skydiving! You can see me do it! www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfzTfT…

And Rod Skydiving: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPVFcf…

ahhh I want to go back! I miss Rod. But he'll be in CA in a few months for co-curating a show at Spoke Art in San Fran that will be in early December which has like over 50 of the most incredible artists, so look out for that! :D (I'm seriously not saying that cuz I'm biased either, these ppl in the show are many of my top faves in the world)

As for me, I know I haven't posted much in a while. I have a lot of in progess pieces, and I'm really digging them actually. Especially the ones I've done after the trip. Maybe I've absorbed some better art skills from just being around Rod? lol

In August I'll be in Australia vacationing with :iconrodluff: <3, so happy. Expect more incredible artwork of me! :D

Right now I'm a gallery assistant at the Phone Booth Gallery in Long Beach phoneboothgallery.com/pbg/ Love the gallery and I get to work on freelance while I'm there so it's doubly awesome.

One more semester left of school then I officially have my degree! (not that degrees mean anything... :/)  Have a class where I get to illustrate my own book and magazine, have a special studies class where I create a portfolio of whatever I want, I'm doing visual development with a focus on environments (a few characters here and there as well) and Nutrition cuz I have to and it's awesome.

Oh and as for posting new work, I've been doing some fantasy trading cards for a board game lately but not sure when I'm allowed to post them… :/

One of the pieces :iconrodluff: drew of me got a daily deviation a few days ago. Super stoked, got a good amount of new watchers myself because of it. fav.me/d45lw1j

Also that piece and many other works of his were featured in the new issue of Blue Canvas Magazine, issue 11. :D Barnes and Noble and Art Supply Warehouse carry it, but I don't think it's in stores quite yet, maybe in a week. But when it is, you should buy it! :)

Here's a video flip through of the magazine! It's around 30 seconds: vimeo.com/34918940#signin yaaay!

My twitter buddy Chris, who is also a crazy good artist just joined deviant art, y'all should watch him! :iconchrisbmurray:

Aaaannd, my blog usually has arts different than my DA, like processes, studies and the shiz, so if you're interested: jessicasalehi.blogspot.com/
